American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is part of a global network of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies that work together to meet the needs of vulnerable people around the world. Internationally, the American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. The American Red Cross also works to prevent illnesses such as measles and HIV/AIDS; reconnect families separated by international disaster; and educate the U.S. public about international humanitarian law. Last year, the international work of the American Red Cross and its partners helped improve the lives of 100 million people in more than 70 countries.
