Immediately after the earthquake Cordaid’s focus is on providing emergency relief. Together with our local partners we distribute food packages, organize drinking water supplies, distribute tents and provide medical care for the victims. In the months following the earthquake, the focus of our activities shift towards more structural type of activities: by March 2010 a major shelter & reconstruction program is started in both Port-au-Prince and Leogane. At the same time the biggest mental health program of its kind in Haiti is initiated. As part of this program mental health capacities are strengthened and eventually psychosocial activities are provided to over 95,000 people living in earthquake affected communities.
